Welcome to my psychotherapy practice. If you have found yourself here, let me just acknowledge and honor that this is already a huge step towards finding relief.  I imagine you or someone you love is in need of support. Asking for help is a sign of strength and resilience. While it is not always easy, the suffering we tend to hold and endure on a daily basis can be more lonely, painful, and daunting than need be. Navigating the peaks and valleys that life brings feels like too much sometimes, and we absolutely can’t do it alone.   We often need a skillful and caring guide to help us through the rough parts. I can help guide you towards a freer, lighter, and more empowered way of being in your skin and in the world.

I work with older adolescents, young adults, and adults.

I offer in-person and virtual sessions.

I have had the honor of helping many people::

  • feel genuinely more secure

  • get out of feeling stuck

  • increase capacity for hard feelings

  • adjust to transition and change

  • process and heal grief

  • be less stressed

  • learn better coping skills

  • get sober

  • feel seen and heard

  • unlearn harmful conditioning

  • safely process trauma

  • understand and work with their own high sensitivity in skillful ways

  • know their own self worth better

  • have more patience

  • know and accept their true self

  • increase emotional literacy

  • set boundaries

  • leave unhealthy relationships/situations

  • go towards the life they want

  • increase healthy habits

  • be happier

  • gain clarity

  • connect better with others

  • be more attentive, flexible, and playful parents

  • break toxic family patterns

  • feel more calm/less anxious

I work with people from various cultural, socio-economic, religious and spiritual backgrounds.  This is an LGBTQQI+ friendly practice.  This is a trauma informed practice. I am always open to and actively learning about how to be more inclusive and knowledgeable about historically marginalized people.

ABOUT

My journey of helping people started very young.  It is in my understanding of myself, now as an adult, that it has become clear how my path led me towards becoming a psychotherapist.  I have always been someone who sought out and thrived in deep connection. I’ve always had a deep curiosity to learn about other people: their culture, habits, ways of being, personality differences, family dynamics…it all lit me up.  Still does. I care deeply. Sometimes that has felt overwhelming and other times I feel so incredibly fortunate for it.  I did not have the language for it when I was young, but I know now that I have always been a Highly Sensitive Person.  I have felt the gifts and hardships of this throughout my life.  Luckily, I have had the information, support, and motivation to learn how to embrace my high sensitivity as an adult.  It now leads most everything I do in a beautiful way.  It enriches my relationships and certainly supports me in my profession as a therapist.  I had the honor of learning from Elaine Aron herself, the researcher, psychotherapist, and author, in a weekend long workshop where I gained immense knowledge about how best to support people who are highly sensitive.  Perhaps this may be you too.

My continued education post graduate school has been significant in the way I practice therapy.  I have completed the Hakomi Professional Training and Attending to Attachment using the Hakomi Method training, as well as many other trainings and workshops in that realm.  Hakomi is a gentle yet powerful experiential psychotherapy that uses mindfulness and somatic interventions to heal attachment wounds and developmental trauma. The guiding principles of Hakomi are: Unity, Mind-Body-Wholism, Organicity, Mindfulness, and Nonviolence.  These principles guide me in all I am and all I do.  Our body and mind are always going towards healing and my training and practice over many years supports me in helping others remove the barriers that have gotten in the way of their healing and well-being.  I infuse the practices I have learned with clients in each session to the extent that is fitting for each individual's specific needs. This integrates neuroscience, psychological, and spiritual sources. By using the present moment experience and a person's whole body as a resource in therapy, I have found lasting and transformative changes occur.

Dr. Gabor Mate’s teachings also play an integral role in the way I show up both in the world at large, and as a therapist.  He teaches that it is through our trauma(s), attachment wounding, and toxic aspects of our culture that we create protectors that are the unconscious dynamics that run our lives (such as addictions, unhealthy habits, toxic relationships, low self worth etc) that we stay unwell.  WIth an attuned presence, compassionate inquiry, and somatic centered modalities we can liberate ourselves from being stuck in these unconscious dynamics.  Both Hakomi therapy and Dr. Mate’s work has shown me a skilled and research based way of doing what I have always known in my gut: that truly safe and loving relationships heal even our most tender wounds.

Being in nature and movement is part of my daily routine and practice.  Eco-therapy tools I have gained in many workshops and trainings on the subject are crucial supporters of my continued journey as a therapist and human.  I incorporate this into my work with clients in various ways.  The natural world and the abundance it provides are resources that are our biggest allies in calming the mind, healing the heart, and accessing the beauty both within and around us.  I bring creativity and these resources into our sessions in various ways with my clients.

It continues to be the honor of my life to provide a safe space for others.  When I am not providing therapy, I am probably in the woods, hiking with my partner and son, with dear loved ones, reading, listening to live music, at a craft fair, or cozied up at home with a warm cup of tea.

TESTIMONIALS

"I have had the pleasure of seeing Natalie for over 8 years and I truly don't know what I would do without her support and guidance. From navigating being a mom of a neurodivergent child, to the extreme grief of losing both of my parents less than two years apart to the ups and downs of marriage, Natalie has been there for me and with me through it all. She is warm, open and honest. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for an additional support system. She has made a profound impact on my life, for which I will be forever grateful."

-Adult female client

"I have been seeing Natalie for over 13 years. I started with her in my early twenties and still continue to do so today. She’s helped me navigate and understand very intense life traumas as well as understand my self and find confidence and love within myself. She is extremely kind and easy to open up to while remaining honest and realistic. I’m very grateful to have met Natalie all those years ago and look forward to continuing my work with her!"

-Female client

"Natalie was enormously helpful to me during a painful family rift that left me feeling somewhat lost as a parent and husband. She is warm, genuine and highly attentive, and brought a sense of humor to sessions that quickly put me at ease.  She was able to zero in on important elements of my situation that were tripping me up, sometimes from what seemed like insignificant details. She was in my corner but all the while holding empathy and perspective for the family and its dynamic. Her insights and deeply supportive nature have been invaluable to me and by extension my family.  I can't thank her enough."

-Male client

"Natalie Harvey was exceptionally helpful during a trying time for me. I appreciated her astute insights and valued her input immensely. I found her honest and non-sugar coated questions and assessments vitally helpful. I also think she is a person of integrity, talent and professionalism. I was at least two decades older than she but did not feel uncomfortable working with her. I could not recommend Natalie enough."

-Adult female client

"Natalie has been an amazing asset for me over the last few years. Her understanding, and use of various modalities allowed for us to make a trusting, healing and friendly connection that was tailored specifically to me. This was evident from the very first time I walked in to her office.

But its not her knowledge or expertise in any external psychology specialty that makes her so valuable; it's her unwavering and honest intention to understand me; what thoughts and feelings I'm experiencing at any given time, and what impact they have on my state of mind and body.

Without really knowing it at the time, this is exactly what I was seeking when I decided to begin regular talk-therapy. She is a knowledgeable, friendly and trustworthy person who is able to explore, reveal and tease out answers to some of the most important questions I face in my life. The answers are already within me I've learned; I just need some help in uncovering them. Natalie provides exactly the help I need.

Knowing the state I was in when I sought out therapy, I can imagine the complexity and sensitivity involved for others as they reach out for help. I'd recommend Natalie Harvey for anyone who thinks they would benefit from having a genuinely good person join them as they navigate the path to wellbeing."

-Adult male client

"Natalie has helped our family tremendously. She connected with our daughter right away (which isn't the easiest thing to do), and supported her through some of the hardest times of her life. She really helped her navigate the pressures and complexity of being a teenager in Marin. Our girl always came home from appointments with a smile on her face and a bit lighter than she was going in. Natalie also helped us as parents to see things we were blind to and gave us direction in how to better support and connect with our daughter. I would highly recommend bringing your teenager to see Natalie if they are struggling."

-Mother of adolescent client

"I just wanted to thank you very much for all of your time and dedication to your practice and for giving back to us struggling humans. Thanks for being you. I very much appreciate all of your help and insight."

-Adult male client

"Natalie is wonderful! If you are looking for a safe space, someone who is not afraid of anything you can bring, and embraces all of you, Natalie is your person.

Natalie helped us navigate a very difficult and complicated/complex family situation. She did so with so much skill by holding the right space for all of us and by bringing a profound intuition to guide the process. Without even knowing how things happened, they did happen. That is the magic of Natalie, she brings things to light, and she holds it all with such care and tenderness.

I can not recommend Natalie highly enough and can say with full confidence that she is the best partner in exploring yourself to any degree you feel drawn exploring. She was/is a true gift to find."
